These initial paintings are roughly based on a previous monoprint, both compositionally and with colour, as well as images of industrial and urban structures. Through my work I hope to utilize the flatness of surface and simplified forms to emphasise a bold and harmonious palette. Because my work focuses on how colours interact, the edges within the paintings vary from hard-edged against raw canvas to overlapping.

Monoprinting
Print making is a helpful method to run alongside my painting practice due to the fast and repetitive generation of work produced. Monoprinting being one of the more painterly print-making techniques, I was able to create flat expanses of colour and sharp compositions while still retaining the possibility of experimentation and chance. The resulting prints will now serve as a basis for my next paintings.
